Demonstrating Real‑World Perception Solutions and More at AutoSens and InCabin USA

AutoSens and InCabin USA continue to be a key event for automotive suppliers and OEMs, where the concentration of ADAS, in-cabin sensing, experience, and automotive innovation takes center stage. It was the ideal environment for indie to share our latest innovations in software perception, introduce our next-generation edge AI SoC, and shed light on meaningful technical and market industry trends.

Introducing iND881

As part of the event, we participated in the AutoSens press briefing where Robert Bloomquist, EVP of Global Sales at indie, unveiled our newest vision processor, iND881. Building upon the success of our flagship iND880, the iND881 is an Edge AI SoC engineered for low power consumption and real-time responsiveness, delivering heterogeneous compute capabilities purpose-built for demanding edge perception tasks. An industry first, indie demonstrated an eMirror solution for integrating DMS/OMS and eMirror capabilities into a single mirror unit. Also highlighted was the iND881’s Ethernet-based vision system for commercial vehicle applications. The iND881 represents a meaningful step forward for automotive and edge AI applications, and the response from media and industry peers was encouraging and exciting.

Demonstrating Multiple Sensing Modalities

This was a premier event, showcasing a combination of indie’s low-power iND881 SoC hardware and state-of-the-art emotion3D perception software, demonstrating a pre-integrated DMS/OMS platform that reduces time-to-market and development risk, supported by our teams’ proven track record of production readiness. The teams also highlighted independent, flexible options for both hardware and software offerings, providing a unique, synergistic approach to customer applications and use cases.

We also showcased our emotion3D 1MP DOMS software, demonstrating its ability to achieve accurate eye-gaze tracking and OMS performance even with a low-resolution camera and a high field of view.

Vision processing was not the only modality represented at AutoSens USA. We also showcased our 120 GHz radar solution and its unique advantages over 60 GHz radar for several key applications. With 4 Tx and 4 Rx channels and an integrated antenna-in-package, the radar MMIC is ideally suited for automotive applications, including parking and in-cabin occupant sensing, industrial sensing, predictive maintenance, and more.

A Framework Worth Talking About

Another of our feature demos centered around iND880. Designed for advanced multi-camera processing, this device is an industry game-changer, delivering sub-1ms latency for enhanced ADAS responsiveness without requiring DRAM, simplifying BOMs, and reducing power consumption and footprint. This product was also the key subject of a presentation delivered by Dinesh Balasubramaniam, Director, Product Marketing, “When Every Millisecond Matters – Rethinking ECU ISP Architecture”.

The physics of a millisecond

There is no doubt that every millisecond is critical when processing real-time safety systems in automotive applications, directly impacting perception-to-action abilities. The discussion focused on the key benefits of iND880, purpose-built for multi-camera, low-latency processing, with its standout sub-1ms ISP latency.

Dinesh also introduced a practical framework for discrete ISP topologies that addresses some of the most pressing challenges in automotive vision system design: reducing system latency, easing DRAM bandwidth contention, reducing SoC migration effort, and future-proofing vision pipelines across vehicle programs.

Bridging Two Worlds

One aspect of this year’s show that was particularly engaging was our purposeful location in the hybrid zone between AutoSens and InCabin, signifying indie’s expansion into in-cabin perception capabilities. Being at the intersection of both audiences allowed us to introduce indie’s full range of hardware and software capabilities to a broader cross-section of the industry, from exterior perception to in-cabin intelligence. That dual exposure served to highlight indie’s unique capabilities and helped us to reconnect with existing and new partners and clients that we’re genuinely excited to collaborate with in the coming months.
